Never drank alcohol. Never needed to.
Never wanted to. (Well, ahem, no more.)
But this morning, as most mornings are spent on the dining table,
Having breakfast with the hubby.
Him, drinking, his coffee
While I, eating, my boiled egg and mung bean.
We were talking softly,
We didn’t want to wake the kids.
Distracted and mesmerised seeing
How yummy he drinks,
I reached for mine mindlessly.
Instantly I stood as I gulped down fast,
Too sleepy to know what to do.
So this is what happens,
With what they call the social drinking phenomena,
As I had just experienced it,
FELT it in my, now full of lil bumps,
My tongue and my hard palate.
Scalded by my very hot tea!
