Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? Are you there? Hello?
Spotty cellular coverage, sometimes, in we go.
When, inside this train we all chug along, in our earnestness to connect, especially with someone we haven’t heard from in a while, or someone who’s just so interesting,
We forget,
We may not be in the quiet car, but tone it down if you will and try to talk under your breath.
You are not the only one in this place, be considerate and mindful but most of all,
Because it’s Fourth of July
Put your feet up (though not on the train seat, okay, your legs are fine)
Let’s let our freedom (and cellphones) ring!
Pray our train don’t derail,
And think about letting our manners prevail.

Manners? What’s that?
One of the things the cyber world has managed to destroy is simple good manners. Restaurants, any public place, we’re subjected to conversations we don’t want to hear. Some people will even ask me to wait during a therapy session while they take an “emergency” (it never is) call from someone.
It’s offensive, unnecessary, and demeaning.

Oh my! That is appalling! Why would they do that?!
Although I have caught myself sometimes that I was talking too loud on the phone. Then I would tell the other person that I would just call them back when I’m off the train or when it’s quieter so I don’t have to yell.
I guess we just have to be mindful at most times.
